What license do I need for Dove hunts in Colorado?

Small game hunting license.

What time of year is best for Colorado Dove hunting?

First two weeks of September are best. Some seasons depending on weather, hunting can carry over to early October. Generally the later it gets the slower the hunting gets.

What are the limits for Colorado Dove hunting?

15 per person per day with a 45 bird possession limit. There are no limits on Eurasian dove.

What should I wear to a Dove hunt in Colorado

Temperatures can vary from 40-100 degrees depending on the year. Mornings can be cool, but it can warm up a lot. Warm jacket over light layers is best. It is best to wear clothing to protect against sun and bugs. Camo is no necessary, but earth tones are best.  Hat, sunglasses, and sunblock are recommended.

How do you set up for a successful Dove hunt in Colorado?

We set up stools along the feeding grounds or watering hole the dove use, and hunt over motion and fully body decoys. Sometimes we hunt in tree rows. These hunts are not performed in upland style.

What time of day is best to hunt Dove in Colorado?

Hunts start 30 minutes before sunrise and run until limits are reached or 11 am whichever comes first.

What can I expect for a Colorado Dove hunt

Colorado dove hunts are a target rich environment, so expect lots of fasting action shooting.

Are Dove hunts good for beginners?

It is very good for beginner hunters because it is a target rich environment with ample shooting opportunities., there is minimal setup, duration of hunt and the weather is nice and you are not in a confined space which those new to hunting may not be used to.

Is it hard to shoot Dove?

Yes, dove in flight can be hard to hit, but a lot of our properties can provide opportunities for easier shooting for beginner hunters.

What type of firearm, shells and choke should I use for a Dove hunt?

12 or 20 or .410 gauge shotgun. 7.5 or 8 shot lead. Preferred 1 and ⅛ ounce. Modified or improved cylinder.

For non-residents it will be approximately $160. These prices may change annually, so please verify cost on Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) website to confirm prices.

What are the limits for Colorado Teal hunting?

6 per person with a 18 possession limit.

What should I wear to a Teal hunt in Colorado

Camo is not required. Earth tones are recommended. A lot of time Teal hunts are in muddy conditions and knee high waterproof boots are recommended.

How do you set up for a successful Teal hunt in Colorado

We scout daily before a hunt. We hunt over shallow waters, behind panel blinds and over decoys.

What time of day is best to hunt Teal in Colorado

These hunts start 30 minutes before sunrise and usually ends by 9 am.

Are Teal hunts good for beginners?

No, due to difficulty of shooting Teal.

Is it hard to shoot Teal?

Yes, they are extremely hard to hit.  On most days, almost all of the action happens in the first 30 minutes of legal shooting light, so there is very low visibility, and they come into the decoys really fast. On cooler, cloudy mornings, the teal may remain active longer into the morning.

What should I wear to a Goose hunt in Colorado

Temperatures can vary from -20 to 70 F. Given the high variability of weather, we recommend closely monitoring the weather before your hunt. Most of our hunting locations center around Eaton, CO. Temperatures can change greatly within a day and we are often hunting in heated pits that can warm up, so make sure you have layers.

Camo is recommended but not required. Earth tones or black is a must. Do not wear bright clothing or accessories.

How do you set up for a successful Goose hunt in Colorado?

We mostly hunt from well concealed pits, over a combination of fully body and silhouette decoys. Depending on targeted species of geese and location, we may hunt over a spread of decoys that is as small as 120 decoys to a spread as large as 15,000 decoys.

What time of day is best to hunt Geese in Colorado?

30 minutes before sunrise and until dusk, as long as scouting indicates probability of good afternoon hunt and limits have not been reached.

Are Goose hunts good for beginners?

Yes. Overall quality of hunt and shot opportunities are great for beginner hunters. Sometimes weather conditions and long duration of hunts can be more difficult for novice hunters to endure. 

Is it hard to shoot Geese?

Difficulty level can vary depending on species and whether we are hunting over water or dry fields.

What should I wear to a Turkey hunt in Colorado

Matching Camo from head to toe is strongly recommended. If camo is unavailable, earth tones or black is recommended.

How do you set up for a successful Turkey hunt in Colorado

We scout daily for weeks before a hunt to be very familiar with the behavior patterns of the targeted bird. We position ourselves where the Turkeys want to be in a pop up ground blind and use high quality decoys and experienced guides for calling.

What time of day is best to hunt Turkey in Colorado

30 minutes before sunrise until 30 -60 minutes after sunset.

Are Turkey hunts good for beginners?

No. Turkey hunts are best for experienced and patient hunters who can handle long quiet hours in the blind.

How far should I expect to shoot from?
